Senior Boys' Soccer Matches
20th Oct 2025
The Senior Boys' soccer team have concluded their Division 3 Kildare campaign, narrowly losing to Castledermot NS in the semi-final of the tournament. Twenty-seven boys were named in squads across the four games played, and every child contributed to a great run of matches across September and October.
In our group B opening game, we hosted Allenwood NS, running out 3-0 winners, with goals from Harry Walsh (2) and Daragh Kenny. Max O'Reilly kept a clean sheet, bolstered by an all-sixth class defensive line of Alex Moore, Ghaffar Smith, Dylan Byrne and Ronan Kennedy. A midfield three of Jack O'Reilly, Daragh Kenny, and Shane Mulligan kept the defense safe and helped supply passes to Caelum Lawlor, Harry Walsh and George Hurst up front. Our line-up was bolstered by brilliant substitute performances from Philip Fennessy, Colton McMahon, Liam Morgan-Lonergan, Billy Newton, and Pietro Zamproni.
Next, our lads travelled to Monasterevin, where despite a slow start, entering the half-time break 3 goals down, a spirited fightback saw us narrowly beaten 5-4. Goals from Shane Mulligan (2), and substitutes Liam Grogan and Alexandru Gheorghe. Changes to the line-up against Allenwood saw Finn Cashin, Jakub Wludarski and Shaun Carty put in a great performance for the team. Ghaffar Smith, Jack O'Reilly and Pietro Zamproni also all contributed to the fight-back, offering fresh legs and hard-work for the team.
In our final group match, we faced Allen NS. Once again, the squad was rotated plenty, with many 5th Class students given a chance to play in front of the home crowd. An experienced back four of Alex Moore, Ghaffar Smith, and Dylan Byrne, along with newcomer Liam Grogan, stood strong in front of Max O'Reilly once more, with debutant Harry Simonov, Jack O'Reilly and Daragh Kenny controlling the midfield. Pietro Zamproni, Shane Mulligan and Alexandru Gheorghe lead the line. Shane Mulligan completed a quick first-half hattrick, while Daragh Kenny and Harry Simonov also got on the scoresheet. Kolby McDonald, Jamie Kenny, Louis Hughes, and Max Byrne also put in a great shift when they came on.
Well done 5th and 6th Class Boys!
